January 15, 2009 — SouthernCare Inc.

SouthernCare Inc. has agreed to pay $24.7 Million to settle a qui tam claim filed against it by two of its former employees, Tanya Rice and Nancy Romeo.

SouthernCare Inc. operates approximately 99 hospice facilities that provide hospice services in fifteen states.

The allegations of the case were that SouthernCare falsely billed Medicare for providing hospice services to persons who did not qualify to receive such care.

As a reward for having filed their qui tam claim, Ms. Rice and Ms. Romeo will receive nearly $5 Million.
